South Dakota State
A Letter From the Chapter President and Vice President
The spirit of FarmHouse is alive and well at South Dakota State University. From our record philanthropy numbers to our numerous awards, we have had a very successful year. One of our proudest achievements in the past year has been recruiting a class of 20 new members, which grew our chapter by over 50%. We do not plan on stopping there and are reaching for even more pledges this upcoming year. If you know of any potential recruits, please reach out to us.
At the beginning of this year, we had eight of our officers attend the FarmHouse Leadership Institute in St. Louis, Missouri. During the conference, we were able to brainstorm ideas with other chapters, as well as learn about and develop ourselves as leaders. We still rank towards the top of FarmHouse international being recognized as a three-star chapter as well as being presented with the Excellence in Philanthropy, Community Service Achievement, Excellence in Recruitment, and Spirit of FarmHouse awards. Locally, we were recognized as the 2022 CAFES Club of the Year as well as receiving Outstanding Alumni Relations, Outstanding Philanthropic Efforts, Outstanding Financial Management, and our advisor Jason Croat won Advisor of the Year within Fraternity and Sorority Life at SDSU. We feel honored to have been presented with these awards and to be recognized by campus officials as one of the top student organizations on campus.
We would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who has donated to our chapter. With the help of our loyal alumni and assistance from the Brookings community, we feel proud to be able to continue to serve in the capacities we do. This last spring, we are proud to say that we, again, broke our Totally Baldacious record by raising over $14,500 for Carter Herbst (MN 19) and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Carter is currently an active member of the University of Minnesota Chapter and is close friends with some of our members. In 2022, we continued one of our largest fundraisers in partnership with the residents of Lake Campbell. The chapter continues our tradition in the community of taking out and replacing docks and boat lifts to raise money for our philanthropy. This year we agreed to recognize a Lake Campbell resident, Ron Einspahr, to receive the Friend of FarmHouse Award for his continued support over the years and for going above and beyond to support us in our philanthropic efforts.
As the semester has begun and the new year has arrived, we are proud of the accomplishments of our chapter and alumni during 2022 and will continue to strive for excellence during 2023. We wish all of you the best this upcoming year and hope that the spirit of FarmHouse remains to impact your life. Feel free to use the contact information listed below to reach us at any time. We are particularly interested in hearing about any potential recruits for the chapter, or any feedback you may have for us.
