LETTER FROM THE CEO
Dear Parents and Family Members,
Welcome to the FarmHouse Family. We are honored to have your son as a lifelong part of our brotherhood. It is our privilege to be a part of a web of relationships and organizations that guide him through his college years and beyond, and it is a privilege we take very seriously.
Whether you are new to Greek life altogether or not, the FarmHouse experience isn’t your typical fraternity experience, so I’d love to highlight some resources that I hope you’ll find helpful. The About and Join sections of our website will provide you with helpful overviews of both our long history and also our experience for members today.
Your son joins a brotherhood of men committed to strong values, achievement and growth. We also hope he enjoys an irreplaceable fellowship that will support him on this journey — both now and for decades to come. We ask you to support and take an active interest in your son’s FarmHouse experience and to hold him and our organization accountable to our values and promises. If you ever have concerns regarding his experience, please contact us.
We’ve heard time and time again from parents and family members that FarmHouse has given their sons the confidence and community they needed to thrive, and we look forward to working together with you as these young men realize their potential.
Dave Hansen
Executive Director & CEO
FARMHOUSE’S COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
FarmHouse is known for our dedication to academic excellence and for providing enriching experiences for our members. Here are a look at two of our signature leadership programs; you can find the full list here.
To Be and Become: An Emerging Talent Retreat
First held in 2009, the To Be and Become: Emerging Talent Retreat is a 3-day program hosted at FarmHouse chapter houses across the country at the beginning of the summer. To Be and Become hones in on Clifton Strengths, helping participants better understand their own top five strengths, and how they can best work together with others.
FarmHouse Leadership Institute (FLI) is designed to provide leadership training and build a platform for chapter leaders to promote growth and change at their chapters. The Institute includes sessions on leadership, motivation, risk management, and strategic planning among other topics. This 2-day program builds on each piece of curriculum and culminates by developing a plan for improvement at each chapter. Held in St. Louis, MO each January.
BENEFITS OF JOINING FARMHOUSE
Many parents want to know if Fraternity life will have a negative impact on their son’s academic life and overall wellbeing. At FarmHouse, we strive to make both of those things a priority for every member. Additionally, research finds that membership in a fraternity has the following positive impact on its members:
- They are 5x more likely to be satisfied with their adult lives than non-fraternity alumni
- 51% had a job waiting upon graduation (compared to 36% for non-fraternity alumni)
- Higher positive mental health scores
- Improved learning gains and student development
- Higher curricular activity engagement and satisfaction levels — especially among first-year students
