FarmHouse Fraternity quarterly CEO update — December 2024
Dear FarmHouse borthers and friends,
I hope this message finds you well and thriving in your chapters and communities. Reflecting on what makes FarmHouse unique, it’s clear the strength of our brotherhood is one of our greatest assets. To build on this foundation, our staff and the International Executive Board are making intentional investments in the development and well-being of our undergraduate members, particularly through mental health resources and membership expansion. These efforts are essential to fostering a more vibrant, supportive community across all FarmHouse chapters.
Prioritizing mental health and member development
In today’s world, prioritizing mental health is essential. We are committed to supporting members academically, socially, spiritually and personally. To further this commitment, FarmHouse is proud to partner with the JED Foundation to provide mental health resources and education to undergraduate members, chapter advisors, and our staff. This partnership offers access to tools, workshops and support networks designed to build resilience, promote emotional well-being and equip students with the resources to navigate challenges confidently.
Positive mental health is a central part of the FarmHouse experience, as academic, professional and personal success depend on each undergraduate member’s ability to care for themselves and each other. By investing in mental health and personal development, FarmHouse reaffirms its commitment to being “Builders of Men” prepared to lead in every area of life.
Growing our membership to strengthen brotherhood
Along with supporting the well-being of undergraduate members, expanding our membership remains a high priority. A larger brotherhood offers a richer experience with diverse perspectives and more opportunities to connect with like-minded men. Growing chapters allows FarmHouse members to share the values and traditions with more young men eager to learn, grow and make a difference.
This is not growth for growth’s sake—it’s a commitment to strengthening FarmHouse’s impact on communities, businesses, campuses, chapters and families. As the Fraternity expands, we remain dedicated to upholding the values that define FarmHouse, ensuring growth enhances the quality of brotherhood experienced within each chapter.
To support this initiative, we are thrilled to announce Chris Hager as the senior director of fraternity growth. Chris brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fraternity life. A member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and a long-time FarmHouse volunteer, Chris has more than 12 years of experience as a campus professional in fraternity and sorority life. Most recently, he served as director of chapter services and expansion for Zeta Psi Fraternity.
Chris holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University and is pursuing an online Ed.D. from Northeastern University in Boston. His expertise, dedication and leadership will play a pivotal role in driving our efforts to expand our membership while upholding the values that make FarmHouse unique. We are confident in Chris’ ability to lead us toward achieving this critical priority while strengthening brotherhood for all chapters.
Call to action
Transparency and trust are core values that guide our staff’s work in support of our members. Managing the finances of the Fraternity is a critical responsibility, and to enhance this process, I am pleased to share the formation of a new Alumni Finance Committee.
This committee will collaborate with the Fraternity staff and the International Executive Board on impactful topics including:
- Review budgets;
- Fee adjustments;
- Review financial statements & audit reports; and
- Provide input on key financial decisions that impact our members.
If you are interested in joining this committee or would like to recommend a brother to serve, please fill out this form to complete the requested information.
Your insights and expertise can make a meaningful difference in ensuring financial stewardship and transparency for the Fraternity.
Your role in the future of FarmHouse
Members, both undergraduates and alumni, play a crucial role in shaping FarmHouse’s future. Your engagement, support and commitment to excellence will carry FarmHouse forward. Together, our brotherhood will be stronger and more resilient, giving every member the opportunity to thrive.
We invite you to join us on this journey—not just by supporting one another, but by sharing the FarmHouse experience with other young men who embody our values and are eager to make a difference.
Let us place no limits on what we can achieve as “Builders of Men.”
Fraternally,
Dave Hansen (Iowa State 90)
