"It is very gratifying to know that each year a deserving FarmHouse man will be helped along in his education by the scholarship which my husband established quite a few years ago. FarmHouse Fraternity and its members always meant a great deal to him." Molly Hill Folken (IA '07)

Scholarships

One of the most visible acts of the FarmHouse Foundation is to offer deserving brothers an opportunity to receive reward and recognition for their academic achievement in the form of monetary scholarships.  The Foundation Board of Trustees awarded $31,550 in scholarships to extraordinary brothers for the 2006-2007 academic year.  The Foundation is proud of these men and is honored to be able to help them in their academic pursuits.

Each year the scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, exemplary integrity, ethics, initiative and industry conducive to ongoing leadership, career potential and service to others.  The recipients are selected by the Scholarship Committee, appointed by the Board of Trustees.  The Scholarships are renewable contingent on re-application and are open to all chapters.

Several scholarships are available only to specific chapters earmarked by donors.  The recipients of these scholarships are selected locally.  Information regarding these scholarships is available by contacting the specific chapter, association or local FarmHouse Foundation Council president.

Information regarding the Foundation Scholarship Program is available by contacting The FarmHouse Foundation International Headquarters at 1-800-722-1905.

  3. The recipient must have a grade point average above or equal to the chapter’s average.

  4. Recipient’s must maintain the foregoing criteria for the academic year for which it is awarded in order to receive the full scholarship.

  6. Announcement of the Scholarship’s recipient at the annual Founder’s Day or other similar occasion is encouraged.  Every effort will be made to notify the recipient well in advance of Fall enrollment, particularly if the recipient demonstrated need that might prevent his continued enrollment.

  7. Scholarship applications and letters of support must be forwarded to the Fraternity/Foundation’s International Office bearing a postmark no later than June 1st.  Selection of recipient will be made by a committee appointed by the FarmHouse Foundation Trustees.

How to Endow a Scholarship

Establishing a scholarship to benefit the current and future generations of some of the most outstanding young men in North America, the undergraduate members of FarmHouse, is easy, satisfying, and tax deductible. More than 50 FH men, families, and associations have done so.

The concept is a simple one:  $10,000 or more will permanently endow a scholarship.  The gift can be made lump sum or spread over up to 5 years.  The gift can be out-right, via bequest, or other deferred gift arrangement.  For gifts of $10,000 or more, the FH Foundation will prepare a fund agreement or contract that will assure that the gift is used as the donor intended in perpetuity.

The scholarship can be for the traditional award for academic achievement and/or need.  It can also be for the more broadly defined scholarship of the 21st Century and provide scholarships for a number of men from the chapter of your choice to attend The FarmHouse Leadership Academy, The Regional Leadership Conference, or Conclave.  Scholarships can also be for technology, study abroad, and other educational opportunities and programs.
