Assistant Director of Alumni and Volunteer Engagement
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
FLSA Category: Exempt, Full-Time
Location: Kansas City, MO (option for remote work)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to travel and work evenings, events, and weekends as needed.
- Proven communication skills — ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, alumni, volunteers, and friends of FarmHouse.
- Membership in FarmHouse Fraternity strongly preferred; membership in another inter/national fraternity/sorority required.
- Two or more years experience in higher education, alumni relations, or fundraising, along with a thorough understanding of best practices for engaging alumni, recruiting and training volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Alumni Support & Engagement
- Develop relationships with alumni associations and support their leadership to engage alumni and strengthen ties with their local chapter
- Steward the association dues model program; track association involvement activities, maintain records on alumni group officers and regular/annual alumni association reporting and billing
- Promote and develop transition of and engagement opportunities for new alumni and engage with existing alumni to promote involvement/volunteerism
- Track alumni news stories and publish appropriately in the magazine, newsletters, or elsewhere
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
- Create a volunteer pipeline to recruit for open roles (e.g., speaking engagements, chapter advisors, facilitators)
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Education to develop and facilitate volunteer training and onboarding
- Develop communications plan for volunteers to provide periodic updates and gather feedback
- Develop digital and educational resources for volunteers
Writing & Editing:
- Gather and create content for magazines, newsletters and other publications
- Conduct alumni interviews and write alumni news stories as necessary and appropriate
- Create additional digital media including but not limited to social media, digital storytelling and Fraternity event promotion
Event Support:
- Identify and support new and existing local, regional and national events held by associations or the national organization

Anticipated salary range is $40-$50,000 and is commensurate with experience.
